Islamofascists Badger Danish Newspaper Into Cartoon Apology
A Danish newspaper which reprinted the famous Mohammed Cartoons has backed down and apologized to radical Islamofascists, much to the dismay of the Danish people including the Prime Minister:
Danish daily Politiken on Friday apologised to Muslims for possibly offending them by reproducing cartoons of Prophet Mohammed in 2008, but said it did not regret publishing the drawings.
"We apologise to anyone who was offended by our decision to reprint the cartoon drawing," the newspaper said in a statement.
Politiken is the first Danish newspaper to formally apologise to those who may have resented the publication of the cartoons.
It published on Friday an agreement reached with eight organisations from Australia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the Palestinian territories representing 94,923 descendants of the Muslim prophet.
Politiken's apology was widely condemned by Danish politicians, who charged that the paper had caved in to pressure and had sacrificed freedom of expression, which is considered a cornerstone of Danish democracy.
Jyllands-Posten, which first published the 12 caricatures of Mohammed in September 2005, blasted Politiken's decision.
"It's a sad day for Danish media, it's sad for freedom of expression and it's sad for Politiken," Jyllands-Posten chief editor Joern Mikkelsen wrote.
Danish Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen said he refused to get involved, citing "the freedom of expression and respect for editorial decisions."
He did however say he was concerned that the apology could be seen as "a break with the cohesion that existed in the media and in Danish society," he told TV2 television news.
The cartoons, including one featuring Prophet Mohammed wearing a turban shaped like a bomb with a lit fuse, angered many Muslims worldwide and sparked angry protests in January and February 2006.
The protests culminated with the torching of Danish diplomatic offices in Damascus and Beirut and the death of dozens of people in Nigeria.
Libya's Gaddafi Urges Jihad Against Switzerland
In retaliation for Switzerland's ban on the construction of new minarets, Libyan president Muammar Gaddafi is urging Muslims to unite and wage jihad against the "infidel" Alpine state.
"The masses of Muslims must go to all airports in the Islamic world and prevent any Swiss plane landing, to all harbors and prevent any Swiss ships docking, inspect all shops and markets to stop any Swiss goods being sold," Gaddafi said.
Libya has cut oil supplies to Switzerland and withdrawn billions of dollars from Swiss banks. Long a bastion of liberal tolerance and multiculturalism, Switzerland has experienced problems integrating and assimilating its swelling Muslim population while trying to preserve its own Western identity. Now Libya is calling for armed struggle against Switzerland - arguably the most successful multicultural state - for its lack of fidelity to its own principles!
The sheer irony here is galling: in Libya, Christians are prohibited by law from proselytizing Muslims. Christian religious literature is under numerous restrictions. Interfaith marriages are prohibited; if a Christian man wants to marry a Muslim woman, he must convert to Islam. Apostates face arbitrary arrest and persecution. In Libya, a confident and virile Islamic culture doesn't hesitate to impose its unreconstructed mores on the individual.
Multiculturalism is a cynical con game that Islamic extremists are exploiting to impose their values on prostate, self loathing Western Europeans. Radical Muslims don't believe in the liberal principles of liberty, equality, and tolerance. These are simply useful rhetorical devices for expanding the ummah into the heartland of Christendom; a centuries old aspiration that goes back to the time of Muhammad.
Boise State University Cultural Center Coordinator Deems Censorship Acceptable - for White Boys
While visiting with conservative students on the bucolic campus of Boise State University, a school known primarily for its blue-football field, the shocking and repugnant stench of intolerance was in the air.
But this scent had a most peculiar origin, as the odious hate spewed from the coordinator of Boise State’s Cultural Center, Ro Parker, who posted an image for her Facebook profile picture that offended many on Boise State’s campus:
The distributor of the fliers copied an illustration from Cultural Center coordinator Ro Parker’s Facebook page and said it depicted racism.
The illustration shows two black women, one of whom is pointing a finger in the face of a white man. He is holding his hands up in a position of semi-surrender.
The caption reads “Shut the F*** up, Whiteboy.”
The Cultural Center at Boise State has this stated purpose:
The Cultural Center is committed to raising awareness and understanding about marginalized and oppressed groups in both non-dominant and dominant cultures, understanding about the needs of these groups and providing opportunities to all for action and interaction.
Here is Ro Parker's objective as listed on her BSU profile page:
Her goal for the Cultural Center staff this year will be to plan programming that will raise awareness of marginalized groups, white privilege, identity and oppression.”When the head of the Boise State Cultural Center is posting objectionable material that ostensibly seeks to censor a group of people, one is forced to question the whole concept of that center’s goals.
Erin Marlor, a student at Boise State, said this entire episode showcases the hypocrisy of the center’s goals. "Most students on this campus are here for an education that will help them in the future, but it appears the Cultural Center is attempting to re-educate students. The sensible thing would be for [Ro] Parker to resign over this incident, to maintain the integrity of the Cultural Center," she said.
One thing is for certain. Cultural Centers and Diversity Centers are well funded across the nation. They employ thousands, if not tens of thousands of individuals who work to create environments of tolerance and peace on college campuses.
They enforce a strict orthodoxy of inclusion and tolerance, and have large budgets to perform this task. However, the coordinator of the Cultural Center at Boise State University has posted a shocking image that should cause reflection among those who question the allocation of resources that go towards departments that serve little educational value, save for the censoring of individuals they deem insufficiently diverse.
Boise State University students and SGA officials are working to see that proper actions are taken to ensure that BSU doesn’t harbor a climate for hate. Ro Parker is an employee of the state of Idaho and the mere action of posting this bigoted picture on her Facebook profile warrants immediate removal from her post as coordinator for the Cultural Center.
Diversity and tolerance mean inclusion for all, not just for those groups the Cultural Center deems worthy of protection. Right?
Or, does diversity and tolerance mean the censorship of white boys, as Ro Parker of Boise State seems to suggest?
The Mount Vernon Statement
A number of conservative organizations are gathering in Arlington, VA to sign the "Mount Vernon Statement" this afternoon. It is a statement of conservative principles that will serve as the philosophical cornerstone of the Tea Party movement and their Republican allies in Congress.
Excerpts:
“In this time of moral and political crises, it is the responsibility of the youth of America to affirm certain eternal truths,” ...
Buckley’s conservative manifesto focused on international Communism as the greatest threat to American liberty, while the “Mount Vernon Statement” states that the present culture, as well as the universities and politics of today, pose as the chief threats to the principles of the American founding.
YWC is the only conservative student organization in America that takes the cultural rot of relativism, nihilism, and multiculturalism seriously. It is our first priority. Whereas other student organizations focus on expanding individual freedom, YWC dares to ask what should we do with our liberties. We're not defending the freedom of the individual to live a dissolute, meaningless, licentiousness lifestyle. A healthy culture is based on virtue, purpose, and community. In this sense, YWC's stated mission is an affirmation of the Mount Vernon Statement.
Corporate Partners Withdraw from 'Global Warming' Alarmist Group
As reported in the Wall Street Journal:
Oil giants BP PLC and ConocoPhillips and heavy-equipment maker Caterpillar Inc. said Tuesday they won't renew their membership in the three-year-old U.S. Climate Action Partnership, a broad business-environmental coalition that had been instrumental in building support in Washington for capping emissions of greenhouse gases.
The move comes following increased skepticism over the 'global warming claims, including the admission of Phil Jones is director of the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia (UEA), a longtime leading advocate of the 'global warming claims', that the claims are essentially based on nothing:
In an interview with BBC Jones admitted that there was no statistically significant rise in temperature in the past fifteen years, that the Medieval Warming Period was as warm or warmer than today and that he had trouble keeping track of the information. In fact, “Colleagues have expressed concern that the reason he has refused Freedom of Information requests for the data is that he has lost some of the crucial papers.”
Senate 'Jobs Bill' Would Give Tax Breaks for Hiring Illegal Aliens
The so-called 'jobs bill' proposed by Harry Reid in the Senate makes employers of illegal aliens eligible for tax breaks.
According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) unveiled his jobs bill last week that proposes tax exemptions and tax credits for employers who hire and retain workers—regardless of their immigration status. Senator Reid introduced his bill, entitled the “Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment Act,” immediately after shelving a more extensive bill authored by Senators Max Baucus (D-MT) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA), the Chair and Ranking Member of the Finance Committee. In doing so, Reid said he wanted to focus clearly on the “jobs message” he thought the Senate should be sending to the American people. (Roll Call, Feb. 16, 2010).
The Reid bill has two primary tax provisions that are intended to spur employment. The first would exempt employers from payroll taxes for new employees hired before January 1, 2011. (§101) A qualifying employer is virtually any employer except government bodies, although an exception is created for colleges and universities. To be a qualifying employee, the worker must:
(1) Begin employment with a qualified employer after February 3, 2010, but before year end;
(2) Sign an affidavit stating that he/she was not employed for more than 40 hours during the 60-day period prior to beginning employment with the qualified employer;
(3) Not displace another of the qualified employer’s workers; and
(4) Not be a relative, broadly defined, of the employer. (See §101)
Nowhere in Section 101, however, is there a requirement that the individual be legal. Nor does the language require that the employer use E-Verify to verify work authorization. The language appears to allow employers to receive tax breaks for hiring illegal workers or for importing foreign workers.
The second major tax provision of the bill provides employers with a $1,000 tax credit for each “retained worker” hired in 2010. (§102) To qualify as a “retained worker,” the individual must:
(1) Meet the definition of a qualified employee under §101 (see above);
(2) Be employed during the taxable year;
(3) Be employed by the employer for no less than 52 consecutive weeks; and
(4) Maintain wages at a certain threshold during the 52-week period.
Like Section 101, this tax credit does not require the employee to be legal or require that the employer use E-Verify to establish the employee’s work authorization.
Action on the Reid Jobs Bill is expected next week and Senate sources have told FAIR that the Senate Majority leader has already taken steps to block amendments to the bill. Stay tuned to FAIR for more information as the Reid Jobs Bill moves forward.
UK: Labour on Immigration
In the Daily Mail, we learned this morning that some "conspiracies" are true: Tony Blair's Labour Government in the UK deliberately encouraged mass immigration to destroy conservatism, undermine traditional cultural values, and advance radical leftwing social programs. The lesson to take away on this side of the pond is that the Far Left and the Democratic Party are promoting the same agenda here for the same reasons. The logical conclusion of our insane immigration policy is one party rule by a coalition of multiculturalist grievance groups alienated from Western civilization and determined to redistribute our wealth through higher taxes and spending.
May 1968, Columbia, SDS
Our scene: It is May 1968 at the height of the student rebellion at Columbia. In Hamilton Hall, the research papers of Orest Ranum, an associate professor of history, are burned. For decades, Students for a Democratic Society (a radical Marxist student activist group) denied responsibility for the arson. The fire was the climax of a month of protests at Columbia that provoked the largest police bust ever on a college campus.
Now the truth comes out: Mark Rudd, the Chairman of SDS, has acknowledged that one of his radical leftist followers set the fire. The rebellion at Columbia launched SDS as the spearhead of the New Left. The Weather Underground hatched out of this millieu. Other notables went on to fame in mainstream Democratic politics.
Leftists can get away with anything in America because they control the media and set the ground rules of mainstream political discourse. In his 2008 campaign, John McCain attempted to link Barack Obama with Bill Ayers. The charge fell flat.
This is why we don’t take left wing attacks on us seriously. Leftists and student radicals aren’t just “linked” to violent thugs – they are violent thugs, and that is all they are. As the reaction to YWC by the criminals at SDS shows, nothing has changed.
Black Opportunity Destruction
In FrontPageMag, Walter Williams decries the political correctness and multiculturalism that has lowered the quality of education that black students receive in America's public schools. Williams speaks for an earlier generation of African-Americans who were raised to expect high standards and academic excellence in education. The postmodernist plague that swept through the humanities in the 1970s and 1980s has lowered the bar for students of all races. A generation of American youth has been taught racial and ethnic grievances, not science and mathematics, and now find themselves ill prepared to compete with their Western peers abroad.
Arizonans Stand Up for their Rights
On February 15, the Arizona Senate passed a "sweeping" immigration bill. Thankfully, it's not one of the nature that Gutierrez has been agitating for Obama pass. Rather, Arizonans have reaffirmed their right to have their police force ensure public safety and to have a healthy environment for their citizenry to find work and provide for their families. Patriotic Americans should hope to bring these common sense policies to their states as well.
