Slaughter On The Southern Border
Solving the problems of illegal immigration and securing the border do not appear to be on the top of the Department of Homeland Security’s list.
The Secure Border Initiative (SBInet), a program developed by Boeing, was designed to incorporate new with existing technology to help federal agents better detect illegal crossings, drug smugglers, and other criminal activity at the border. When the Recovery Act was divvied out by the Obama Administration, the Secure Border Initiative was to receive $50 million to continue to pay for the project.
However, Janet Napolitano declared that this allocation from the Recovery Act would be suspended since she thought the program was inundated with "technical problems, missed deadlines and cost overruns."
In her statement, Napolitano makes clear that instead of funding a program that could do a better job of securing the entire border, the DHS will send the money "... to other tested, commercially available security technology along the Southwest border."
And John McCain agrees with her. McCain hastily expressed the program as a failure and he applauded Napolitano for sticking to the already available equipment.
Sure, Napolitano and McCain, go ahead and encourage the implementation of the same programs and technology you’ve always used along the border. Congratulations, you’re just going to continue to get the same results you always have.
Islamofascists Badger Danish Newspaper Into Cartoon Apology
A Danish newspaper which reprinted the famous Mohammed Cartoons has backed down and apologized to radical Islamofascists, much to the dismay of the Danish people including the Prime Minister:
Danish daily Politiken on Friday apologised to Muslims for possibly offending them by reproducing cartoons of Prophet Mohammed in 2008, but said it did not regret publishing the drawings.
"We apologise to anyone who was offended by our decision to reprint the cartoon drawing," the newspaper said in a statement.
Politiken is the first Danish newspaper to formally apologise to those who may have resented the publication of the cartoons.
It published on Friday an agreement reached with eight organisations from Australia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the Palestinian territories representing 94,923 descendants of the Muslim prophet.
Politiken's apology was widely condemned by Danish politicians, who charged that the paper had caved in to pressure and had sacrificed freedom of expression, which is considered a cornerstone of Danish democracy.
Jyllands-Posten, which first published the 12 caricatures of Mohammed in September 2005, blasted Politiken's decision.
"It's a sad day for Danish media, it's sad for freedom of expression and it's sad for Politiken," Jyllands-Posten chief editor Joern Mikkelsen wrote.
Danish Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen said he refused to get involved, citing "the freedom of expression and respect for editorial decisions."
He did however say he was concerned that the apology could be seen as "a break with the cohesion that existed in the media and in Danish society," he told TV2 television news.
The cartoons, including one featuring Prophet Mohammed wearing a turban shaped like a bomb with a lit fuse, angered many Muslims worldwide and sparked angry protests in January and February 2006.
The protests culminated with the torching of Danish diplomatic offices in Damascus and Beirut and the death of dozens of people in Nigeria.
Libya's Gaddafi Urges Jihad Against Switzerland
In retaliation for Switzerland's ban on the construction of new minarets, Libyan president Muammar Gaddafi is urging Muslims to unite and wage jihad against the "infidel" Alpine state.
"The masses of Muslims must go to all airports in the Islamic world and prevent any Swiss plane landing, to all harbors and prevent any Swiss ships docking, inspect all shops and markets to stop any Swiss goods being sold," Gaddafi said.
Libya has cut oil supplies to Switzerland and withdrawn billions of dollars from Swiss banks. Long a bastion of liberal tolerance and multiculturalism, Switzerland has experienced problems integrating and assimilating its swelling Muslim population while trying to preserve its own Western identity. Now Libya is calling for armed struggle against Switzerland - arguably the most successful multicultural state - for its lack of fidelity to its own principles!
The sheer irony here is galling: in Libya, Christians are prohibited by law from proselytizing Muslims. Christian religious literature is under numerous restrictions. Interfaith marriages are prohibited; if a Christian man wants to marry a Muslim woman, he must convert to Islam. Apostates face arbitrary arrest and persecution. In Libya, a confident and virile Islamic culture doesn't hesitate to impose its unreconstructed mores on the individual.
Multiculturalism is a cynical con game that Islamic extremists are exploiting to impose their values on prostate, self loathing Western Europeans. Radical Muslims don't believe in the liberal principles of liberty, equality, and tolerance. These are simply useful rhetorical devices for expanding the ummah into the heartland of Christendom; a centuries old aspiration that goes back to the time of Muhammad.
The Mount Vernon Statement
A number of conservative organizations are gathering in Arlington, VA to sign the "Mount Vernon Statement" this afternoon. It is a statement of conservative principles that will serve as the philosophical cornerstone of the Tea Party movement and their Republican allies in Congress.
Excerpts:
“In this time of moral and political crises, it is the responsibility of the youth of America to affirm certain eternal truths,” ...
Buckley’s conservative manifesto focused on international Communism as the greatest threat to American liberty, while the “Mount Vernon Statement” states that the present culture, as well as the universities and politics of today, pose as the chief threats to the principles of the American founding.
YWC is the only conservative student organization in America that takes the cultural rot of relativism, nihilism, and multiculturalism seriously. It is our first priority. Whereas other student organizations focus on expanding individual freedom, YWC dares to ask what should we do with our liberties. We're not defending the freedom of the individual to live a dissolute, meaningless, licentiousness lifestyle. A healthy culture is based on virtue, purpose, and community. In this sense, YWC's stated mission is an affirmation of the Mount Vernon Statement.
Corporate Partners Withdraw from 'Global Warming' Alarmist Group
As reported in the Wall Street Journal:
Oil giants BP PLC and ConocoPhillips and heavy-equipment maker Caterpillar Inc. said Tuesday they won't renew their membership in the three-year-old U.S. Climate Action Partnership, a broad business-environmental coalition that had been instrumental in building support in Washington for capping emissions of greenhouse gases.
The move comes following increased skepticism over the 'global warming claims, including the admission of Phil Jones is director of the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia (UEA), a longtime leading advocate of the 'global warming claims', that the claims are essentially based on nothing:
In an interview with BBC Jones admitted that there was no statistically significant rise in temperature in the past fifteen years, that the Medieval Warming Period was as warm or warmer than today and that he had trouble keeping track of the information. In fact, “Colleagues have expressed concern that the reason he has refused Freedom of Information requests for the data is that he has lost some of the crucial papers.”
